Finding my Love

lots of tings gwan! i did a casting for Oprah's "own show" contest on Saturday. i taped a portion of my EPK on Sunday. I'm packing and moving this week, yet i haven't really started. i did some basic ish on Tues with a client-unexpected and fun.....and went thru the twilight zone today. just left an a-list event with an A-list friend. looked across the room and saw that my home girls life was parallel to mine. CRAZY. I'm fried right now and I'm just getting in the house. CONFUSION.

I've got so much to do--and time is flying by. i gotta stop looking at life and a particular situation with rose color glasses--cuz shit ain't sweet, gotta start treating people accordingly. and really doing me. cant let peoples actions or lack of actions sway me from my focus. enough of that.

this was the most popular dance show in detroit during the early 90's called, "the New dance show". it came on from 6-7pm on the weekdays on channel 62. yes, i used to dress like this and yes, i can still do all the dances seen in the videos above. don't judge me.
i was pretty fresh back i day and i used to kill the dance contests at the block parties. who's cousin wanna battle???

my current source of inspiration at the moment...HALSTON. so simple, so fabulous and timeless. after doing plenty of research on the often unmentioned designer...i now understand my obsession with studio 54, diana ross and "gina" in scarface..... its all about him...his presence was strong in the 70's. its obvious that halston has inspired the masses, everybody from donna karan to lanvin. and we all know i die for lanvin.
I'm so into the make-up, the movement and the sex appeal. check out these nasty soulful struts on the catwalk. i died 3x and came back.

this scene from The Wiz is epic! my bestie Mahogany (aka Adriane jamison) reminded me exactly how fresh it really was and is to this day. its so cool and if u check out the costuming....everybody was full out! shout out to the wardrobe department, that was a shitload of work!

but anyway....this video speaks to trends and if the powers that be change there mind, everybody follows suit. I've always been one to walk to the beat of my drum and the older i get the cautious i become. this is just a reminder to you (and myself) to stay true to who you are and dare to be different. life is short---snatch the tag on that new piece and wear to the grocery store if u wish. set the trend and or step in front of it!
